Karen Brown's Hotel Eisenhut, Rothenburg Germany

www.karenbrown.com Welcome to Karen Brown's World of Travel We would like to share with you one of our recommended hotels in Germany The Eisenhut Hotel in the town of Rothenburg The Hotel Eisenhut is Rothenburg's most deluxe hotel but with rooms very competitively priced when compared to other hotels in this "must-visit" town. The promise of a special experience is created as you walk into the spacious reception hall which has a hearty, German-castle look; with beamed ceiling, Oriental carpets, massive, wrought-iron chandeliers, weaponry, large oil paintings, and a sweeping wooden staircase. Beyond the stately entrance there are comfortable lounges and several dining rooms opening onto a garden terrace, a wonderful retreat to escape the throng of daytime visitors. The high-ceilinged breakfast room, once a courtyard, is full of lovely, country-style tables and chairs. Throughout the hotel there is a fascinating collection of large, mural-like oil paintings depicting scenes of the Thirty Years' War. Because the Eisenhut was created out of four 15th- to 16th-century patrician mansions, the guestrooms are intriguingly tucked along a maze of corridors. While bedrooms at the front of the hotel are larger, we preferred the smaller back rooms with their peaceful countryside views. After four generations of ownership by the Eisenhut family, the hotel is now run by the Schlag family who own six hotels in Franconia. Travel your Dreams with Karen Brown!

Historic Pittsburgh Home on Observatory Hill For Sale

The Dan Kite Team. 412-367-3200. Step back in time with this historic stone villa home located in Pittsburgh's Observatory Hill. Built by the Hack family in 1906-1907, the interior of this home reflects the wealth of the original owners. Once inside you'll immediately notice one of the most striking features of the house. Standing at 6 1/2 feet high and 4 1/2 feet wide, a gorgeous Rudy Brothers Stained-Glass window featuring a dramatic expressionistic castle scene let's in plenty of sunlight and even changes colors throughout the day. This window was recently restored and brought back to the home after being lost for twenty years. Exceptional craftsmanship is one phrase you'll be saying to yourself as you walk through each of the rooms. From the original Tiger-Oak flooring to the cherry columns which gives a rich warm appearance, this home won't disappoint. Cherry ionic columns separate the entry from the living room (which was originally the music room) with the original chandeliers in both rooms. The modern kitchen is updated with cherry cabinets and hand-painted Mexican terra cotta floor tiles. Granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, and tiled walls complete the amenities. When it's time to serve your meals, you can head into the large formal dining room which features gleaming hard wood floors, large windows which allow plenty of outside light, and a beautiful chandelier which adds to the elegance of this room. For added ambiance, the dining room includes a ...
